Here at Freethought we can handle the standard requests with ease. New laptop – no issue, M365 issue – a breeze, however, where we really shine is solving problems. When the local Lions group were struggling with thier Santa Tracke,r they asked for help!
Each year the local Lions Club visit local towns and villages taking their Santa sleigh and elves to visit all the children and raise money for charity. One of the key challenges with visiting all these remote locations is for everyone to know where Santa actually is. Nothing worse than missing Santa!
The main issues they were facing were:
So whilst this isn’t a typical request we put our standard methodolgy into play and by leveraging existing technology we built a system which allowed for real time tracking and connectivity anywhere the sky could be seen.
Starlink was chosen for connectivity. it just works anywhere you can see the sky. Plus as we have kits available for loan it was a very inexpensive solution.
Then for the tracking a simple web based platform was provided along with an app on a standard mobile phone. This allows for real-time tracking to a very high resolution. Last piece of the puzzle was a big power bank with enough capacity to see Santa through the night.
Thankfully, and as expected, this system proved to be perfect, helping generate a record-breaking charity collection!
